Check your mower

In the summer when you are most likely to be out in the garden you should start off my checking your lawnmower. Is it being maintained? Try and keep your electric or gas mowers blades balanced and sharp to get the optimal usage out of the motor. Check fuses cables and power sources for any defects and remember to do so safely. Make sure you do so safely and if need be professionally taken care of to avoid any injury.

Most suitable time of day for cutting

Once the lawnmower is in order and you want to cut your grass it is advised that you cut the grass in the evening when the sun is down giving the around 12 hours of shade until the next time the sun comes up. If the grass is dry at this point it is the optimal time in order to put some fertiliser on the grass to promote growth.

Fertilisation

Fertiliser will only need to be done a few times a year of you will find yourself with a jungle in your back garden without the time to maintain it. Try using a spreader to even out the distribution of the fertiliser. Set it at a low setting and go over the lawn a couple of times to ensure maximum coverage.

Watering

Watering is recommended to be done a few times a week in the early morning to allow the grass to dry. Soaking the soil will promote deep root growth whereas lightly watering means the roots will stay near the surface of the soil.
