Geldeston

The delightful village of Geldeston is at the extreme south west of the Broads. Overlooking the village green is The Wherry Inn and the village hall hosts an abundance of events throughout the year. Mooring is available near to the village but a torch may be needed at night. At Geldeston Lock as it's known in Norfolk (Sheepsmeaow lock in Suffolk) and the end of navigation you will find the real gem, "The Locks Inn" winner of the Award for Best Music Venue 2008 with mooring only 10 feet from the pub.

Ghosts

In the summer of 1989 an old woman by the name of Susan and her pet goose called Grumpy appeared outside the Locks Inn. not unusual except Susan had died a few years previously!

Geldeston is also said to be home to a phantom hound which appears running down the lane by the churchyard. It is said that wherever the hound appears will soon be the scene of a crime.

A headless coachman is also said to appear driving from Bungay to Geldeston & back again.
